Happy New Year! Welcome 2015!
Here are 3 simple ways to grow spiritually this year:
1. The W O R D
Start your day by reading the Bible, it can be as simple as a verse a day. There is no better path to God than through His Word. A devotional can be great for this, or you can even flip through the bible and read random pages. Expand your mind, even if you're not religious a devotional can give you words of encouragement and motivation.
2. Acts of S E R V I C E
You can't "earn" salvation, but Good Works are an essential part of God's grace. Practice acts of service to your community. There are plenty of volunteer opportunities available from youth organizations to food banks and shelters, to assisting the elderly. Helping those less fortunate is not only good for the soul, but good for perspective and remembering to practice gratitude. Service doesn't have to just come in the form of organized efforts, practicing random acts of kindness each day is a way you can serve. Just being mindful of how you can help others goes a long way.
3. Of course P R A Y
Praying is your conversation with God. Talk to Him. Find time daily to praise Him, repent, show gratitude for His blessings, ask for His guidance... God hears our prayers regardless if we are standing or kneeling, speaking them aloud or speaking to him through our hearts. You can talk to him anytime, anywhere. Even if you're not religious you can still have a dialogue, meditate and speak to whatever higher power you believe in.
Blessings for a beautiful year ahead!
